Debts

The gemstones tumbled across the orange-red mosaic, spots of green among the tones more suited to a wasteland than a Tier-Dweller’s home. I wanted to gather them back up, spit my defiance, but instead I shoved myself upright and glared, first at Ferland’s lackey, who’d shoved me, then at the Tier-Dweller himself. “My debt is cleared.” No matter that it was Ferland’s, not mine, but I knew how precarious my position was.

Ferland made a wounded sound as he eyed the scattered stones on his floor. “Is that all there is between us, Isabel?” His ivory teeth gleamed, sharp as any leopard’s.

“How could there be anything else?”

It’s been a while since I’ve written any 100-word flash fiction, so I thought it’d be fun to give myself 3 prompts and see what came out of my brain today. Today’s words were: mosaic, ivory, and wound. Feel free to write something yourself! (I used this online word generator) I decided to be relaxed and give myself the extra words I wanted today so it’s actually 108 vs 100 words, but hopefully you’ll forgive me. ;)
